Having worked bedside as a nurse and in other clinical roles, Patrick Allen, newly hired Managing Director, Strategy and Transformation at Pixel Health, knows how important a digital strategy is to patients and clinicians. He knows how strategy, turned into action, can change patient outcomes and improve operational efficiency.
Now, over 20 years after his nursing days, Allen is poised to lead the Strategy and Transformation Practice at Pixel Health helping other healthcare organizations heed the lessons he’s learned in various prior advisory roles. He’ll be leading the effort to advise and enable clients to transform patient and clinician experiences by enhancing accessibility and affordability via technology and operational improvement.
“I’m excited to work with providers to leverage technology to improve their patients’ health and experience, their employees’ satisfaction, and their financial performance,” said Allen. “The ability to work with a nimble organization, like Pixel Health, which focuses not only on the traditional areas of digital experience, such as technology, vendors and tools, system design, and workflow, but also networking, security, and telecommunications is exciting. This comprehensive set of capabilities allows us to propose innovative and novel end-to-end solutions that fully address our clients’ problems.”
Prior to his new role, Patrick started and led the healthcare consulting practice EPAM Continuum, a digital transformation and software development firm. There, he and his team helped payors, providers and technology clients reimagine their digital goals and then meet and oftentimes exceed them through EPAM’s engineering capabilities and Patrick’s leadership.
His experience in digital transformation reaches further back than EPAM. He was Vice President at Lumeris, where he was tasked with getting payors to embrace volume-to-value-based operating models – no small task. In this role, he helped initiate almost a dozen provider-sponsored Medicare Advantage plans.
In addition, Patrick was instrumental in building and expanding North Highland’s change management consultancy and healthcare practice, acting as a clinical subject matter expert.
“I’ve been fortunate to have experienced healthcare from most perspectives – as a clinician at the bedside, an operations and business leader, and a patient,” said Allen. “These experiences, plus those I’ve gained as a consulting and technology leader, allow me to identify a problem’s root-cause(s) and communicate the solution and rationale such that the various stakeholders understand why we’re proposing this solution and how it will benefit them.”
Pixel Health is a consultancy driving innovation change in health care organizations looking to improve care delivery through digital transformation.
